RUSKIN - RUSKIN - Blake Kennedy and Tevin Abbney scored two touchdowns each Friday night as the Lennard football earned the program's first-ever victory with a 28-0 blanking of Lake Placid in Class 2A-District 5 action at Longhorn Stadium.
Lennard, a first-year program, had losts its previous seven games, but records went out the window early as the Longhorns scored on their first three possessions and never looked back, taking advantage of two Green Dragon turnovers and holding the LP offense to 65 total yards.
Junior Chevontry Wilson 10 carries for 67 yards to lead the Dragons, who've dropped their last four games. Senior quarterback Conlin Veley completed 2 of 4 passes for 15 yards, but saw limited action in the second half due to a sore throwing shoulder.
LP junior safety Zach Campbell added two interceptions for the Green Dragon defense, which looked sharper in the second half, allowing Lennard to find the end zone just once.
The Dragons (2-5) host league-leading Bishop Verot next Friday in their final home game of the season.
