Habitat Needs Land

Published: October 16, 2007

Highlands County Habitat for Humanity has built over 100 homes serving 360 people in our community. Started in 1990, Highlands County now ranks in the top 10 percent of all Habitat affiliates in the nation.

We are continually amazed by the dedication of our volunteers, the commitment of our donors and the great things we have accomplished together. You have allowed us to persevere in our mission to eliminate poverty housing in Highlands County. Our strong partnership with the community, congregations, individuals and homeowner families are the backbone of Habitat's success.

We need your continued support as we are now in the process of trying to build with over 100 families and property for only 30. Never in our history have we had so many needy families and so little property. At this rate it would take over 4 years to just build for our present families, but every day we get more and more families signing up for help in getting the home that they can only dream of.
Why support Habitat? Because it represents our reach to fulfill the commandment, "Love thy neighbor." It's our command, but also our privileges. Too many of us miss the joy of sharing life and love with neighbors. Habitat fosters this and is truly love in action.

Our office is located at 159 S. Commerce Ave. and our phone number is 385-7156. If you are able to help us, please stop in or give us a call. The award for this is the good feeling you will feel as you help people who are not able to help themselves.
