AVON PARK — Reaching down inside.
That's what the South Florida Community College volleyball team did by coming back to defeat Manatee Community College in five sets on Tuesday night in the Panther gym.
The important win improved SFCC to 5-4 in Suncoast Conference play and sets up a win and get in scenario for the postseason playoffs.
The Panthers, who continue to improve with each match, face St. Petersburg Community College at 7 tonight in the SFCC gym.
IF SFCC wins, the team advances to the playoffs and will compete for the FCCAA state championship.
"That was a big win over Manatee, but the match against St. Petersburg is the biggest of the season," Panther volleyball coach Kim Crawford said.
SFCC, which had some girls switch positions recently, has played its best volleyball of the season in the past two weeks and Crawford hopes the community comes out to support the Panthers against St. Petersburg, which is tied for first place in the Gulf District.
"We look forward to a big crowd coming out and supporting us as we try to earn a berth in the postseason," the Panther coach said.
"The girls are excited about the match and we look forward to the challenge."
