America's First Defense

Published: October 6, 2007

BBC World News (British Broadcasting) is a good source to find what is happening in the world and how that affects the United States.

The 45 year old Cuban embargo has cost Fidel Castro 89 Billion dollars. The embargo has caused China to race to Cuba's rescue with busses for public transportation. Dictator Hugo Chaves has engaged his country to supply Cuba with petroleum to fuel Cuba's vehicles.

"Yes!" you say "The embargo is working." Not so fast. You might not want to get too excited because there are usually two sides to every transaction.

The wives of political prisoners in Cuba recently held a vigil. They walked the streets of Havana wearing white. They call themselves simply, "Women in white." It is obvious, as you watch them slowly walk the street, that their name is much better, but not far enough removed from woman wearing the black color of death and grief.

The embargo has reinforced a cause to untie Cubans against the United States according to information from BBC. While this is a mind set within the island nation of Castro's Cuba, there are other things happening in the dark of night that appears to go unnoticed.

Go-fast boat theft in Florida is up by 36 percent. These boats will be used to smuggle Cubans that eventually will arrive in America. More Cubans have found another way to enter the U.S. than to be smuggled directly onto our shores. There is a way that avoids possible intervention by the U.S. Coast guard, and assures passage through our boarder without getting caught.

Those wishing to come to the U.S. are taken during darkness to a remote part of Cuba's coast where they board go-fast boats. They then proceed to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsular where they are held until their relatives. still in Cuba, send the smugglers $10,000. Then they are flown to Brownsville, Texas. They are received by U.S. Customs and within an hour they are released into the United States.

This appears similar to our U.S. policy of the past when Cuban Nationals, seeking passage to America, were mingled with non-threatening Cubans, as well as criminals, spies, and the psychopaths released from Cuban institutions. They were welcomed by our government by the boat load, as they flooded into the Florida Keys.

The overall outcome from a U.S. embargo of Cuba appears to be that vehicles and fuel are in shorter supply and that deficit is being taken care of by China other dictator ruled countries. Some retail stores have closed uniting Cubans against the United States. Canadian, European and Oriental tourist still swarm to Cuba's white sand beaches and beautiful natural scenery. Researchers from Europe have supplied Castro with medical research centers and other industry.

Here in the United States we welcome even more illegally as they simply walk through the counter, which is supposed to be our first defense from illegal entry, and successfully pass through our United States Customs.

But fear not. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is on guard banning ounces of liquid and remote control toys from commercial airliners. As if that is not enough, if our Boarder patrol agents don't play by the rules in keeping illegals out of our country, we will simply lock those U.S. Boarder patrol Agents up and throw away the key. In the words of a Second Grade child when asked if America's first defense failed, the answer might simply be, "Duh!"
