AVON PARK — An Avon Park man remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $32,600 bail after an Avon Park police officer investigating the burglary of Al Joe Hinson's Bar found the suspect passed out drunk on a sidewalk about two blocks away.

A half-full bottle of Colt 45 beer was found a short distance away.

Walter Lee Holder, 23, of 420 W. Bell St., was charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure, possession of cocaine, petty theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief.

Al Joe Hinson's Bar is located at 935 S. Delaney Ave., and Holder was located at 916 S. Verona Ave., laying on the north side of Hicks and Brown Apartments, the arrest report by officer Benjamin Pollard stated.

According to the report, the bar's owner found his business burglarized Monday morning. A witness told Pollard that a man known as "Bo" threw a rock through the bar's front door, and gave police a description of the suspect.

Inside the businesses cash register had been broken into.

Holder reportedly appeared extremely intoxicated and had vomited on the sidewalk. During a search, Pollard found evidence of the burglary (two torn one-dollar bills), a small amount of cocaine, some USA brand menthol cigarettes and the beer.

The money and cigarettes were reported stolen.
