SEBRING — A Lake Placid man was being held at the Highlands County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail Tuesday, accused of beating and intimidating a fellow inmate and taking his food.

Anthony Dale Blair II, 19, of 204 Hardee St., was arrested Monday on a bench warrant, charging him with battery on a person detained in a jail facility and robbery with no firearm or weapon.

According to a Highlands County sheriff's probable cause affidavit, between Aug. 4 and Aug. 8, Blair II, who is 6-feet 7-inches tall and weighed 180 pounds, intimidated another inmate by telling him he was in charge of Cell No. 205 and that he was going to take anything he wanted from him.

Blair II reportedly took the victim's food tray and leaving him the things he didn't want to eat by, "fear, intimidation or force."

This went on during the duration of the time they were in the lockdown together.
The victim, age 20, reportedly was 6 feet tall and weighed 158 pounds.

According to jail records, the victim reported he was punched 12 to 15 times by Blair II, until he was left black and blue and hitting him in the head, face and jaw, to the point he had to be transported to an area hospital.

He told the victim, "to keep his mouth shut or he would hit him again," the report stated.

Blair II was arrested on May 5 and charged with armed robbery of a Hispanic man outside of Lupita's Grocery Store. He reportedly tried to strike the intended victim by swinging a belt and belt buckle.

Due to that arrest, Blair's bondsman went off a bond on charges in connection with the burglary of the Island Food Store and petty theft charges in which some cigarettes were stolen during the night of March 23.

Blair is currently being held in the jail's maximum custody cell block.
