Sports Bar To Locate At Hungry Howie's

SEBRING — Fried green bean sticks are described by Keith Schroeder as "awesome and addictive."

Although not available yet at Hungry Howie's Pizza and Sub Buffet in Sebring, they will be soon. Schroeder, who owns the eatery with his wife, Donna, and father, Mike, is expanding the menu.

They are also putting a bar in the restaurant located in the Sebring Plaza shopping center. A January opening is planned for the bar, called Skeeters Sports Bar.

The bar, which will have 22 seats, is under construction. The bar, which will offer 10 brands of draft beer, will be separate from the restaurant.

A beer dispenser system called Turbo Tap is planned for the bar.

"It pours a perfect beer – not too much head or too little head," Donna said.

Hungry Howie's is now open from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. The bar will stay open for sports that run late such as Monday Night Football.

"People are waiting for the bar," Keith said.

"Lots of people," Donna added.

The Schroeders are trying to attract more customers and increase sales. They are going to spend about $40,000 on the bar and increased food offerings.

The new dinner-type entrees will include ribeye steak, fettucini alfredo and shewered shrimp on a bed of rice.

The menu will also have onion rings, loaded baked potato, mini corn dogs, chips and salsa, corn nuggets, fried mushrooms, a few salads and 16 flavors of wings

There will be a kid's menu and dessert offerings that will include apple crescents, cheescake bites and double chocolate brownie bites.

Two more TVs will be put in.

Keith Schroeder said additional staff – perhaps 10 full-time and part-time employees – will be hired.
