SEBRING — Balanced scoring and a tenacious defense paced Lake Placid to a 65-33 win over Moore Haven in boys basketball on Tuesday night in the Terrier's gym.

Senior forward Conlin Veley scored a game-high 16 points, center Travalier Sholtz added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Josh Hickey chipped in with 10 points and six boards as the Class 3A Green Dragons improved to 1-0.
The loss dropped the Class 2A Terriers to 0-1.

Point guard Marcus Waugh did a solid job of running the Lake Placid offense by dishing out five assists to go along with three steals.
Moore Haven played well early and enjoyed a 16-14 lead heading into the second period.

The Dragons went to a full-court press and forced numerous Terrier turnovers, which were converted into easy baskets as LP took a 23-18 lead at the half.

The relentless pressure continued in the second half and the Dragons cruised to the easy win.
Lake Placid was back in action in the Ida Baker Turkey Shoot-Out against Ida Baker High on Friday night. Results were not available at press time, but for the complete story and pictures check out Sunday's sports section.
