Closings, Holiday Garbage Schedule Changes

The Highlands County School District, Highlands County Courthouse, city government offices and facilities will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Also closed will be the U.S. post office and other federal and state offices.

There is also a change in the garbage pick-up schedule for this week.

Avon Park – City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Solid waste will be closed Thursday and will pick up trash on Thursday's route Wednesday. All other pick-ups will remain the same.

Sebring – City Hall, Public Works and the Utilities Department will be closed Thursday and Friday. Solid waste will be closed Thursday and will pick up trash on Thursday's route Wednesday. All other pick-ups will remain the same.

Lake Placid – Those with Dumpsters will have their garbage picked up Wednesday. Residential garbage will be picked up Friday

Unincorporated areas of Highlands County – Thursday's garbage pick up will be Wednesday. There will be no yard and debris pick-up.
