Well, you missed it. The Heartland Idol contest is over for this year, and the ones of you who didn't make it down to the Circle to watch have no idea what great entertainment you missed.
I am sure there are some who would like to hang the judges up by their toe nails for the way the judging went. But I have to admit I was rooting for Christopher Allen the whole time. Christopher had the whole package: voice, poise, and super stage presence. I also have to give it to Shawn Knowles for his stage presence. To me that is what entertainment is all about, not just being able to sing. No matter how great a voice a person has if the person bores me they have lost me.
For all of you that didn't place this year, give it another try. There were a couple people from last year's show I would have loved to have seen back this year. Who knows what next year will bring? Each of you deserve a big hand. Well, I have to admit maybe my singing of "Rabbit ain't got no tail at all" doesn't deserve anymore than the laugh it got. But we all had fun and that is what it was all about.
I enjoyed seeing the kids, however, I feel they should have their own show. I have heard others voice that opinion also. It can be scary for a small child having so many people watching when you aren't used to large groups yet. This is just my thought.
A big thank you to all the sponsors and behind the scene people who make the Heartland Idol contest possible. Next year I just hope more people will show up to see what they have been missing.
