Watching the ceremonies today honoring our veterans stirred my mind. I thought back to World War II, in which I participated, and incidentally the last one where we prevailed. Then I thought about the Korean War, where we didn't prevail, as President Truman forbade Gen. McArthur to cross the Yalu River to break up the massing of Chinese troops, who eventually did us in. Then came the war in Vietnam, where our boys won every engagement but lost the war because the politicians in Washington again butted in on the conduct of the war.
Here we are again, in Iraq, where the arm chair, political, generals are setting the rules of engagement and it is costing us. I feel if we had let the military conduct the Iraq war from the beginning, today it would be behind us. I thank God that President Roosevelt had the brains to let the military generals conduct the war in Europe.
Today, the politicians in Washington are now losing our country with their "political correctness" hogwash. These people don't know what the country is like outside of Washington, and it is costing us our country.
