A serious problem has arisen and it affects transportation of all disabled and medical clients in Highlands and Hardee counties. My wife and I are in this category, being without any means of transportation without community service. I was informed, that due to lack of funding, we cannot be transported for doctor appointments.
If someone can help us with this problem, it will be greatly appreciated in assisting in a matter of funding for the county, as it affects many people in our situation. Please advise what steps we can take to help us.
Living in an area where we have no public transportation, we really need and depend on community transportation for all medical needs. I am sending this letter to many departments in the hope someone will be able to help in getting this matter taken care of.
As we all know, gas prices have risen so high, that maybe charging a little more for transporting to medical appointments would help for those of us who can afford it. If we were able to drive we would have to pay for the gas, so maybe this would help in funding and getting help back to our county, for those of us who so desperately need it.
