Taxation Without Representation

Published: November 8, 2007

I have an acre of land with no building in Marion County. My taxes went from $225.18 in 2005 to $584.85 in 2006. I have received another assessment this year, and my taxes are $729.03. I called a Realtor and was told that the most she would be able to sell it for would be $14,000.

The politicians in this country don't care about the taxpayer. Their strategy is, tax the people until they scream, then give them back crumbs, and they will be happy. That's the way they have treated us for years, but people are starting to fight back.

I would think the fair solution would be, turn back the taxes to 2000. Do something to take the burden off the taxpayer, instead of sucking the blood out of we the people.

The politicians in Tallahassee, and around the county, had better pull in their belts and face reality. Hard times are here. The money along with jobs have gone overseas.

We have inherited the mess that has been dumped on us by the politicians in this country. I feel there is no leadership, and it's like the blind leading the blind.

If we are to survive, we must work together.
