SEBRING — A motorcyclist was struck and killed by a van Wednesday afternoon near the Alan Jay corporate headquarters.
The man, whose identity has not been released because his next of kin had not been reached, was struck after 4:30 p.m. when the Kia van struck his Harley Davidson motorcycle. The Sebring Police Department got a report on 4:44 p.m., but the man died at the scene.
According to SPD Sgt. Mike Warner, a woman was driving the Kia van headed north along U.S. 27 when it made a left turn, going into the path of the southbound motorcycle.
Warner said the accident was still under investigation.
One witness at the Alan Jay Automotive Network office said she heard brakes slamming, and when she looked outside, she saw the man underneath the front of the van.
