In regards to Jim Gulledge's letter I have to say I agree with him 100 percent. I just don't understand people or the press. I know the press is suppose to be people also. But there are times I wonder.
I too am very concerned about a man running for president of this country who does not honor its flag. I sent Highlands Today an e-mail I had received on that subject. I did not ask them to print the e-mail. I said I felt this should be looked into an article ran, so the people of Highlands County can make informed choices.
I am very well aware of the fact all e-mails you receive aren't factual and I did contact www.snopes before I made such a request. Snopes did say "true" to the story I had been sent. For those of you who may not know, snopes is a site on Internet that will check out a story for you, and let you know if the story is true, partially true or false, so I am not running my mouth about something I know nothing about. Except Mr. Gulledge's letter, I have not seen one word on Sen. Barack Obama.
Since I write to the paper on a regular basis I was trying to set back and see what others in the area had to say about Obama's lack of respect for the flag of the United States of America. But no, they complain about trucks on U.S. 27, the way old people drive on U.S. 27, the person who whipped into a parking space in front of them, every breath Bush takes, whether Bill would have any say in how things are done if Hillary gets in the White House and a host of other subjects. Then a really important matter comes up and not one word. I just don't understand what goes on in people's minds.
To my way of thinking, no matter what a person's reasoning is if they can't bring themselves to show respect to the flag of this country by placing their hand over their heart or saluting its flag and saying the pledge to this country's flag they don't belong in the White House. Please give this matter more coverage. I also find it hard to believe a person who has made billions of American dollars in good faith can support this man.
