As one who has preached the gospel for over 40 years, I could not agree more with Dean Johnson's letter of Dec. 6 concerning global warming. Dean writes: "God controls the world's temperature not man. God controls the climate, the earth's eco-system and our environment, not man.
Dean questions why evangelical Christians are caught up in trying to save the earth. I also question that. The one verse of Scripture, known by more people than any other, is John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life." The word "world" does not refer to the planet earth but "people." God has called Christians to save people from their sins not to save this earth.
To those that want to save the earth, let me remind them that it is a losing proposition. It was none other than Jesus, himself, who said: "Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will remain forever." Matthew 24:35
