At this time of year we are bombarded by numerous health and charitable agencies looking for donations. We certainly can't afford to give to every one of them. We have people in our own county who need our help and a small donation from the good people of Highlands County would certainly help.
Several months ago, there was an article on Gunner Porter, who at the time was 3 years old, but had just turned 4. He had been diagnosed with Periventicular Leukomalacia and Cerebral Palsy. He has been to the Shrine Hospital for the Cerebral Palsy but needs to get therapy for the Periventicular Leukomalacia.
He was scheduled for therapy in September at Europeds in Michigan, but the cost is $6,000, and his mother has been unable to raise that amount. She has set up an account at the Wachovia Bank for him and continues to try to find ways to earn the money that is needed. This child just wants to walk and play like other boys his age and I'm asking everyone to please help to get him the therapy he so desperately needs.
