The AARP Tax-Aide Program, a free nation-wide tax preparation service focusing on low to middle income level persons with special emphasis on those 60 or over, has begun at three Highlands County locations.
Appointments are not necessary; taxpayers are assisted on a first come, first served basis.
Those who are seeking help should not call the church with tax questions. People with tax-related questions should come to one of the sites listed below and speak directly to one of the IRS certified Tax-Aide counselors.
The locations, days and times of operation are as follows:
AVON PARK
First Baptist Church
100 N. Lake Ave.
Tuesday, noon to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
LAKE PLACID

Tuesday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
SEBRING

If you paid property tax on your primary residence, please bring in a copy of your tax bill for 2009, you may be entitled to an additional deduction up to $1,000.
