Builders slate meeting
AVON PARK The Highlands County Builders Association will hold a general membership meeting Tuesday, June 16 at Trish's Paradise Grille at Highlands Ridge, 3455 E. Fairway Vista Drive, in Avon Park.

There will be a social hour from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. with heavy hors d'oeuvres. Dinner is set for 6:45 p.m. and the program will follow at 7:30 p.m.

The cost is $20 per person and includes two drink tickets.

Gyro Plus now open

Tourist council meeting slated
SEBRING The Highlands County Tourist Development Council's monthly meeting will be held Thursday, June 18 at Bert J. Harris Jr. Agricultural Center, 4505 George Blvd., in Sebring.

The meeting will begin at 8:15 a.m. in Room 3.

Graham joins Eagle Home Mortgage
LAKE PLACID Eagle Home Mortgage at 301 Dal Hall Blvd. in Lake Placid announces the addition of Becki Graham to its staff of loan officers.

Graham recently moved to Lake Placid from Denver, Colo., and will be focusing on assisting seniors who wish to stay in their homes with reverse mortgages. She will be serving the entire Highlands County area.

Graham, who went to school in Washington State and owned her own business for 11 years in Denver, is available seven days a week and can be reached at 863-243-3190.

Georges receives designation
SEBRING Christine Georges of RE/MAX Realty Plus has received the designation Commercial Real Estate Professional from the Real Estate Professional Society.

Georges had to complete three courses on commercial real estate over a three-month period: Introduction to Commercial Real Estate Investment, Financial and Investment Analysis for Commercial Real Estate and Acquiring Commercial Real Estate and Building Wealth.

"With my dual degrees in business and international business, I felt it would be beneficial to enhance myself and my career as a Realtor, and found this commercial course extremely insightful," Georges said.

EDC board to meet
SEBRING The board of directors for the Highlands County Industrial Development Authority and the Economic Development Commission will meet at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 17 in the board room of the commission office, 2113 U.S. 27 S., Sebring.

Poshe employees attend beauty show
SEBRING Employees of Poshe Day Salon in Sebring attended the Premiere Beauty Show last week at the Orlando Convention Center.

They sat through classes to learn the latest in cut styles and trends. Those who attended included: Dustin Martz, Claudia Cox, Dona Beck, Diane Stahl, Erin Edmonds, Ashley Albritton.

LP Bowl-a-Thon to benefit MDA
LAKE PLACID Sweetbay supermarkets and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) are teaming up for the Lake Placid Bowl-a-Thon on June 20.

Royal Palms Bowling Center will host the event. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. and the bowling begins at 5:30. Teams consisting of Sweetbay supermarket employees and members of the community have been asked to raise a minimum of $250.

Teams will bowl while also competing for raffle items and raising money to send local children to MDA's week-long summer camp, purchasing and repairing medical equipment, such as leg braces and wheel chairs and providing medical treatment with no cost to families.
