The Quality Inn Conference Center, at 6525 U.S. 27 N., in Sebring, is launching a series of free interactive demonstration classes open to the general public as part of its new Community Fun Series.
Executive Chef Steve Kucera will be teaching a cooking class featuring two separate gourmet dishes from the Christmas Day buffet. The class will be held from 5 - 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9.
"It's just another way to reach out to the community in these difficult times and have fun, learn something new, meet and eat with your neighbors and not worry about money because these events are 100 percent free," said hotel General Manager Mike Peek. "I have often found myself glued to some great cooking show on TV though frustrated that I can't taste what I'm watching at that very moment."
Danielle Wahlgren, of the hotel's banquets, sales and catering staff, said Kucera will be preparing items from the new menu at the Quality Inn.
Complimentary recipes and food samples will be provided, but seating is limited so RSVP by calling 385-4500. Reservations are required.
Though there is no admission fee, attendees are encouraged to bring a canned or boxed food item to benefit less fortunate families in the community.
Wahlgren said this is the first time the Quality Inn has organized the Community Fun Series. Classes are free and will last one hour.
The hotel's head bartender will be showing people how to make cocktails in an upcoming class, according to Wahlgren.
